Naco Casa Hogar Emmanuel A.C.
PAST: Ross Hanna, NAMB Missionary, became involved with the orphanage in September of 1990 and began to search for contributions and supporters. A kitchen, dining room, laundry room, food room and a dormitory for boys and girls were built in the fall and winter of 1990-1991. In 1992 Caring Ministries, Inc. was established to help people in Tucson and along the AZ / Mexico border. Caring Ministries then purchased the orphanage in 1997. Three new buildings were constructed including a larger dorm, a dorm for visiting groups and a chapel. We have added a baseball / soccer field, and also two porches to the dining room. Ross Hanna retired in 1998 and Jerry Gollihue, his son-in-law became president of Caring Ministries, Inc. To better facilitate operations, a board of directors for the orphanage was established in 2005. This board now operates the orphanage. Pastor Jorge Herrera, of Douglas, AZ is President of the board and a Resident Director is in charge of daily operations.
In 2007, a block fence was began with a large gate to provide great access control... In 2008, the boys were moved to the larger dorm and the dorms for the girls were divided into semi-private rooms. Both boys and girls dorms have bunk beds, cubicles for clothes and a shelf for personal belongings.
PRESENT: Naco Casa Hogar Emmanuel, A.C. is an "Association" in Mexico (like a US non-profit). This has made it easier to conduct business in Mexico. Casa Hogar Emmanuel, Inc. was created in 2008 to support the orphanage. Casa Hogar is a registered US 501(c)(3) public charity. Contributions sent to Casa Hogar Emmanuel, Inc. are used for the needs of the children and the expenses of the orphanage. A monthly financial statement is always available to anyone who asks.
FUTURE: Caring Ministries, Inc continues to accept donations for the orphanage and provide quality food for the children on a weekly basis. The entire orphanage is operated by volunteer donations. This has been our lifeline and is the only way the orphanage can survive. Monthly donated are always welcomed. In 2007, an endowment fund was established to better provide for the future of the children and the orphanage. It is our mission to continue to care for these otherwise forgotten ones for as long as we have the resources. Donations to both the current operations and the endowment will help us to meet these goals.
